
The penalty imposed by the court on a person must be paid through a bank (over the counter, fund transfer, or Internet banking).
Penalty payment method
The prosecution service no longer directly accepts penalty payment effective July 1, 2009. The penalty must thus be paid through a bank, through any one of the following methods.
Over-the-counter payment
Visit the bank and directly pay through its giro service based on a penalty payment notice (order or reminder).
Payment via virtual account (payment account no.)
- Deposit your payment to Shinhan Bank??s payment account no. (specified on the payment notice) via Internet banking, phone banking, etc.
- The payment account no. is a one-time-use account no. provided by Shinhan Bank. No handling fee will be charged when you pay through fund transfer from your Shinhan Bank account, but a handling fee will be charged when you pay through fund transfer from another bank account.
- Payment service time: 01:00-22:00 every day (including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays)
Payment via KFTC??s Internet giro system
- Access KFTC??s homepage (www.giro.or.kr) to confirm the penalty notice details and to pay the penalty
- Join as a member by logging onto the site, clicking on ??prosecution service Penalty?? in the National Tax/Penalty menu under ??Payable Fee?? item, and selecting ??Official Payment?? or ??Temporary Payment,?? then pay.
- Payment service time: 09:00-22:00 (except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays)
Payment via Internet banking
- If you have no existing Internet banking membership, visit a bank and enroll in its Internet banking facility so you can use its Internet banking service.
- Access your bank??s Internet banking service and inquire about and confirm the notice details via the electronic payment no. specified in the penalty payment notice before paying.
- Payment service time: 09:00-22:00 (except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays)
Payment via a bank??s CD/ATM
- Pay via a bank??s CD/ATM.
- Inquire about and confirm the notice details via the electronic payment no. specified in the penalty payment notice, and pay via debit from your bank account, with a cash or debit card, or via your registered account.
- Payment service time: 09:00-22:00 (except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays)
Direct payment to the prosecution service
- Allowed only in special cases, such as when a family member or other qualified proxy of a person who is on a wanted list, who has been arrested, or who is serving his term in the workhouse wants to pay the penalty directly to the prosecution service, or when the person who is to pay the penalty is having difficulty paying through a bank
